Lexington, KY (September 19, 2018)- Mike Petriello, post-doctoral researcher within UK’s Cardiovascular Research Center, has received the prestigious Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This highly competitive career development award offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to accelerate their transition to independence. The purpose of the award program is to increase and maintain a strong cohort of new and talented, NIH-supported, independent investigators.

Rudolph G. Buchheit Named Dean of Engineering

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 27, 2018) - Rudolph G. Buchheit has been selected as the next dean of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering, pending approval by the UK Board of Trustees. Professor Buchheit is associate dean for Academic Affairs and Administration of the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University, an academic unit comprising more than 350 faculty members, 400 staff members, 8,500 undergraduate students and 2,200 graduate students.

Graduate Trainee Jessie Hoffman is Dept. of Pharmacology & Nutritional Sciences Student of the Year

Lexington, KY (April 23, 2018)- UK Superfund Research Center Graduate Trainee Jessie Hoffman was named the Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences 2018 Student of the Year on Thursday, April 19, 2018. The award recognizes Jessie's exceptional achievements and demonstrated student leadership. Jessie is pursuing a PhD in Nutritional Sciences while also working toward becoming a Registered Dietitian (RD).

Dr. Bhattacharyya Wins 2018 Sturgill Award

Lexington, KY (April 23, 2018)- Congratulations to UK SRC’s Dr. Dibakar Bhattacharyya, winner of the 2018 Sturgill Award! The Sturgill Award is named in honor of William B. Sturgill, who contributed to higher education in Kentucky through his gifts and services. This prestigious award is presented annually to a graduate faculty member for outstanding contributions to UK Graduate education. UK Provost David Blackwell presented the award to Dr. Bhattacharyya at the UK Faculty Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

UK Superfund Trainee Brittany Rice Wins FIERCE Award

Lexington, KY (February 14, 2018)- Congratulations to UK Superfund Research Center trainee Brittany Rice! Brittany was the Essence Honoree for the UK Center for Graduate and Professional Diversity Initiatives’ FIERCE Award. The award was presented at the 2nd Annual Sister Circle Forum: The Magic is in Me on February 9, 2018. The Sister Circle Forum is a half day conference for undergraduate, graduate, and professional women of color from the University of Kentucky and the Lexington community.
